(The reason I had to do that was Windows 7 said I didn't have the correct permissions to instal a program on my own computer. With MAC's the most you ever have to do is enter your password, authentication code and say "yes" to a few preferences, and your up and running. THEN installation was a huge mess coming from the MAC I wasn't used to being forced to go into the Command Line Terminal and being forced to learn DOS commands computer language just to instal a program. Because the MAC version of Word will not work with the PC StyleWriter 4 Because No Windows operating system is bundled with Parallels What I didn't realize is what I would be forced to DO and BUY in addition to "Parallels" I knew I would have to buy "Parallels" since StyleWriter 4 doesn't work on Macs. There are several things I wish I knew before I bought StyleWriter 4 for my Mac. But, once the cost and the setup were done StyleWriter 4 worked mostly as expected. I think it would have been cheeper, and far less of a hassle to hire a professional editor for this one project than to buy StyleWriter 4, Word for PC, Parallels, and Windows 7. I never use Parallels for anything else, and I have never needed the PC version of Word for any other project. Therefore, 4 days later once that project was done, the whole set up became unnecessary. This One Document was the only reason to buy all this. I usually dry to open just one or two other programs while Parallels is on.ģ. On has to keep in mind how many programs are open at one time. Slow Computer - Running Parallels slows down your machine. And for me it further complicates things because I back up my documents with iCloud which backs up Pages and not Word.Ģ. Document organization - one has to make sure the Mac version of your Word documents are kept up with the PC version of your Word Documents. I can use it on future projects with no where near the hassle I've encountered during setup.ġ. ![]() For me, that's the job I wanted it to do, and that's what it does. It is VERY nice to be able to correct a document in StyleWriter 4 and it updates it automatically updates it in your final Word document. Nutshell: Not worth it to me - BUT maybe worth it to someone who is constantly using it.ġ. The question is how well does it work using the chain Parallels > Windows 7 > Word for PC > StyleWriter 4? The whole reason I set up this blog "Problems with Parallels" is to help people become aware that this was a longer process than it seems at first glance. It does not work on the MAC version of Word. Here is my Assessment of how StyleWriter 4 works on a Mac - after owning it for 1.5 years.Īs was implied before - StyleWriter 4 is a plug-in for the Word program. ![]()
